Laundry and Patti’s, the home of the 2 inch pork chop.
Friday was a laid back day, with laundry to do, the boat to vacuum, the ship’s store to peruse, and a spa day for Kathy. The spa day was great! The facility was nicer than some back home. Kathy felt like a new woman when she returned to the boat!
We were supposed to have an excursion to Walmart; a mere 30 miles away in Paducah, but others were more in need of the courtesy car than we were. Somehow fan belts from a NAPA store, and prescriptions from a Walgreens trumped coffee filters and socks.
So our pals gallantly agreed to pick up our stuff for us, in exchange for the keys to the courtesy van. While discussing this whole transaction, we all decided to go to Patti’s 1880 Settlement for dinner.
Wow. What a place. (Click here to see their website). We thought it was all decked out for Christmas (did we miss Halloween?) Come to find that it was only partially decorated. We have no idea how they could fit any more decorations into the place. Each of the many dining rooms had a different theme. , Our dining room had a “Babes in Toyland” theme which included rocking horses, huge cardboard ornaments, and a ton of Christmas lights.
The crèche scene had two-foot tall figures and pretty much took up the foyer.
The food was HUGE. The special of the day was a pound portion of sirloin steak, smothered in cheese and mushrooms. Patti’s is noted for its 2” tall pork chop which several folks ordered. The dessert menu had 20 variations of pie. Everyone went home with enough meat for two days of leftovers!

In the small world category, we ran into another set of friends who had left Green Turtle Bay earlier that day to meet up with some of their non-looper friends. You would have thought that we hadn’t seen them in years! And to complete the small world category for the day, these folks have friends that work with and know our good friends Stuart and Nancy.
